Beaudesert Poultry Club Annual Show returns

The Beaudesert Poultry Club Annual Show returns with a special Mediterranean chicken breed feature on May 25 at Beaudesert Showgrounds.

The annual show consists of participants exhibiting their chickens to be judged on physical appearance, handling quality, and health of the chickens provided.

Each exhibit is judged on the Australian Poultry Standard as all breeds are different and need a standard to differentiate them accordingly.

The Mediterranean feature includes awards and prizes specific to that breed of chicken.

Soft Feather judge Eric Roslyn and Hard Feather judge John Gibson will attend the event and assign each award to the winning participants.

The awards will include:

  • Major Awards 
    • Grand Champion of Show
    • Reserve of Show
  • Mediterranean Feature Championships and Reserves
  • Champion and Reserve Awards for
    • Large and Bantam Soft Feather
    • Large and Bantam Hard Feather
    • True Bantam
    • Waterfowl
    • Junior
    • Exhibition Pair

Winners will be in the running for cash prizes, ribbons, feed, and more.

Entry fees will vary with members costing $2.50 per entry and non-members costing $3.00 per entry.

All junior classes under 16 years with cost $1.00 per entry with requirements that they can pen their own fowl.

Entries close May 17 at 6pm or when the pens are at full capacity and must be paid in full prior to the show day. 

Regarding the day of, all exhibits must be penned by 8:25am on the day and will be available from 6:30am on the show day or the evening prior from 2pm til 6pm.

Water containers are supplied in all pens and all Queensland exhibitors must hold a current 2024 FCAQI Certificate to participate in this year’s show.

Owners of any fowl showing any signs of lie, stick fast fleas, vermin, excessive scaly leg mite or and visible illness will be asked to remove those fowls immediately from the show pavilion.

Once the exhibit has been penned, no exhibitor may interfere with or remove any fowl from the pen without the Steward’s permission and judging will commence at 8:45am. For more information on how to enter, visit Beaudesert Poultry Club Inc Facebook
