The Canungra School of Arts Hall was ablaze with colour and awash with the scent of hundreds of orchids for the Beaudesert and District Orchid and Foliage Society’s (BDOFS) sale and display.
Held over the weekend of 10 and 11 September, Society President Garth Dale said he was pleased with the number of plants on display.
“There are plants from growers from Springbook, Canungra, Beaudesert, Tweed and Waterford,” he said.
The Society has 65 members and meets every third Wednedsay of the month at the Canungra School of Arts Hall.
“We try to have a guest speaker at every meeting and we have had potting demonstrations, so there is a bit of entertainment.”
Prior to COVID, the Society ran two orchid and foliage shows per year which were very successful.
The last two years have been difficult, however Dale is working towards rebuilding memberships and events.
He was hopeful that the BDOFS could run an orchid and foliage show again as early as 2023.
