Scenic Rim’s Farm Gate Trail proved a valuable boost for producers with locals and visitors flocking to over 20 farms across the region.

It was the first Farm Gate Trail for Oaky Creek Farm.

Salene and Kerry Watson own the property in partnership with Salene’s parents, Diane and Brent Williams.

Salene said they were both delighted and overwhelmed by the number of visitors who came to buy their locally grown turmeric, garlic, ginger and salt rubs.

An estimated 900 people came to the picturesque farm and they sold out of turmeric, garlic and ginger with only a handful of salts rubs left at the end of the day.

The family has big plans for future expansion, with a cafe due to open later this year.

They also hope to open up walking tracks in the fields so people can walk through the growing produce.

“It is just nice to see people coming out this way and the area growing,” said Salene.
