Beaudesert Scouts invited anyone interested in Scouting to a meeting on 20 June to discuss the future of the group.
Located on Eaglesfield Street, the Scout Group was established in 1948 and became part of Scouts Australia in 1951.
They are looking for people to be involved as leaders and volunteers, as well as encouraging boys and girls between five and twenty five years of age to join Scouts, Venturers or Rovers.
Michael Stanford lives in Brisbane but grew up in Beaudesert and travels an hour to help out as a Venturer Leader and to attend as a Rover Scout.
He became involved in February this year and said as a person who loves adventure, giving back to Scouts makes sense.
“I’ve always been a very adventurous person – I did a lot of climbs before I became involved with Scouts and I thought I can give that experience to the younger Scouts coming through,” he said.
“I love it. I’ve got a lot of friends here and we do things outside of Scouts. It’s a lot of fun.”
Marg Manthey became involved with Beaudesert Scouts 13 years ago when her grandchildren started attending Scouts.
She is a Group Leader and passionate about the difference Scouting can make to young people.
“We need more leaders to share the work and share the fun,” she said.
Local GP, Dr Michael Rice said he has had many experiences that were made possible through Scouting such as sailing tall ships and hiking in locations around the world.
He encouraged adults to get involved and volunteer their time to help out.
“As an adult in Scouting, it keeps you young – the kids have a lot of energy and it gives you energy,” he said.
