Thyme Lifestyle Resort Canungra has officially commenced construction on its new multimillion-dollar Clubhouse, marking a major milestone for the over-50s lifestyle community and delivering a further boost to the local economy.
The sod-turning ceremony, held on April 15, was led by Serenitas QLD and NSW State Development Head Blair Britton, Serenitas Development Manager at Thyme Canungra Michael Karolvic, QLD State Sales Manager Greg Paul and Director of Land Lease for the Property Council of Australia Tom Court.
The Clubhouse is scheduled to open in Autumn 2027.
Located in the foothills of the heritage-listed Lamington National Park, just 30 minutes from the Gold Coast, Thyme Lifestyle Resort Canungra offers modern, low-maintenance homes and lifestyle-focused living in one of Queensland’s most desirable regions.
Upon completion, the boutique community will comprise 167 homes and is within walking distance of Canungra’s cafés, essential services, and country hospitality, offering the perfect blend of connection, nature and ease.
Operated by Serenitas, one of Australia’s most experienced land lease community providers with more than 7,700 homeowners nationwide, Thyme Lifestyle Resorts are purpose-built for active over-50s Australians looking to downsize without compromise.
Serenitas CEO Von Slater said the commencement of the Clubhouse marks an exciting chapter for both homeowners and the wider region.
“We are thrilled to see the construction of the multi-million-dollar Clubhouse at Thyme Lifestyle Resort Canungra progressing. The strong response to this community reflects the growing demand for resort-style living throughout the Gold Coast and surrounding areas,” Ms Slater said.
“The Clubhouse will form the heart of the community, offering generous social spaces and premium facilities that support an active, connected lifestyle in a relaxed natural setting.”
Designed to enhance wellbeing and foster social connection, the Clubhouse will feature an outdoor swimming pool and spa with poolside lounges, a gym and fitness studio, bowling green, pickleball court, indoor and outdoor dining areas, cinema, and sports bar, among other amenities.
“The development has been carefully designed to complement the character of Canungra and the Scenic Rim, attracting new homeowners to the region while enabling locals to downsize and remain close to their community,” Ms Slater added.
Mr Court said projects like the Thyme Canungra Clubhouse highlight the strength and evolution of the land lease sector.
“The development here at Thyme Canungra is a perfect example. Things like the Clubhouse are generally the central social hub – the heartbeat of the community,” he said.
“The Property Council of Australia works to promote a policy, regulatory and industry environment that supports communities like this.
“We work with members to try and build confidence, credibility and trust in the industry and show that land lease communities are not only an evolving housing asset, but an actual genuine and important option for the Australian broader housing mix.”
Mr Karlovic said he is looking forward to working with ITC Construction on delivering the Clubhouse.
“The commencement on the Clubhouse is such an exciting milestone for Thyme Canungra because it’s the community facility that really brings people together,” he said.
“It’s a hive of activity where people can relax and enjoy each other’s company.
“We can’t wait to see it come to life for our homeowners.”
As Australians place greater value on connection and quality of life, Thyme Canungra provides a secure, welcoming environment where homeowners can stay active, socialise, and build new friendships within a stunning natural setting.
