IN A dazzling display of community spirit and heritage, Beaudesert shone brightly on Saturday, August 3, during the highly-anticipated B150 Gala Dinner.
The evening was spectacular, with the charismatic Peter Sullivan taking to the stage as the master of ceremonies, leading the festivities that honoured this milestone in Beaudesert’s history.
Held at The Centre, the gala dinner was a true reflection of Beaudesert’s vibrant culture and deep-rooted history.
The town resonated with pride as Town Crier Syd Norman, accompanied by Consort Pauline, graced the event alongside guests including Federal Member Scott Buchholz MP, State Member Jon Krause MP, Mayor Tom Sharp, Councillors Steve Moriarty, Jennifer Sanders and Kerri Cryer.
A letter from the Governor of Queensland, Her Excellency the Honourable Jeanette Young, added a touch of regal charm to the celebration as the community united to commemorate Beaudesert’s 150-year journey.
Tim Andrews, the Acting Chair of the B150 Committee, lauded Peter Sullivan’s presence as he captivated the audience with his eloquence and charisma, weaving a narrative that honoured Beaudesert’s past.
A highlight of the evening was the silent auction, where attendees opened their hearts and wallets to support Farm Angels, formerly known as Drought Angels.
The auction, featuring a treasure trove of items and exclusive experiences donated by local businesses, raised an impressive $2,052, showcasing the generosity and solidarity of the Beaudesert community in making a real difference.
As the night unfolded with soulful musical performances by local favourites Rick and Linda Wilson of Wilson Street and heartfelt speeches, the B150 Gala Dinner projected an air of sophistication, joy, and community pride.
It was an evening that epitomised the unity and resilience that define Beaudesert and its evolution over the past century and a half.
Mr Andrews extended his gratitude to all attendees and to the event sponsors whose support was pivotal in making the evening a success.
