Wrights Jewellery in Beaudesert was broken into in the early hours of Friday morning, June 6, marking the third time in ten years the long-standing business has been targeted.
Owner Ken Wright said the break-in occurred just after 2am, with offenders smashing several glass display cabinets and making off with a small amount of silver jewellery and watches.
“It could have been a lot worse,” Mr Wright said.
“Nobody was injured, and most of the valuable items were locked up.”
A break-in also occurred at Boonah Jewellery and Gifts around the same time.
Beaudesert Police confirmed they are investigating whether the incidents are linked.
“We are looking to see if there’s any connection between the two break-ins at Boonah and Beaudesert,” a spokesperson said.
“We urge anyone with CCTV footage or information to come forward and ask locals to keep an eye out for people selling new watches or jewellery in the area.”
Mr Wright said he and his team are now focused on cleaning up and restoring the store.
“We just wait now to see what the police say. They’ll let us know what happens next,” he said.
“We’ve just got to restore the place now.”
