LIKE many young teenagers in the late 80s, Jason Pacey wasn’t quite sure what he wanted to do for a career.

He had started working for the local Target store in Rockhampton and they loved his drive and attitude so much they wanted him to become a manager with the growing department group when he left school.

He took up the offer and progressed through the ranks before he and his then fiancé decided to travel abroad.

Upon returning to Australia, he decided to follow his new wife’s lead by enrolling  in university, undertaking a double degree in arts and education with the view to becoming a teacher like his wife.

Now years later Jason’s teaching career has landed him in Beaudesert as the second principal of McAuley College.

“I was looking for a role as a principal of a rural school with the opportunity for growth and McAuley was the perfect fit,” he said.

“The school’s first principal, Deidre Young, did an amazing job establishing a great culture here and expanding enrolments to a base of almost 360 students.”

“The vision is to continue to grow the school, building pathways to success, enabling students to be agents of their own future and we are already looking at a number of building options to support this.”

Jason has shown his commitment to the region by buying a local home and is looking forward to becoming a strong community member.
