Scott Buchholz MP, the Federal Member for Wright, has today joined the local community to celebrate the official sod turning of the new Wongaburra Aged Care Facility in Beaudesert. The project marks a significant milestone for aged care services in the region, delivering improved facilities and care options for seniors.
Mr. Buchholz, who lobbied extensively to secure federal funding for the project, expressed his excitement about the benefits it will bring to Beaudesert and the wider community.
“This is a huge step forward for Beaudesert, and I am incredibly proud to see this project come to life,” Mr. Buchholz said. “The new facility will provide a first-class standard of care for our seniors, ensuring they can remain close to home, family, and friends.”
The total project cost for the new Wongaburra Aged Care Facility is $39.4 million, with $22.6 million secured through an Aged Care Approval Round (ACAR) grant from the Federal Government. This vital federal contribution was supported by a significant $16.8 million investment from the Wongaburra Society itself.
Mr. Buchholz highlighted that the new facility would help meet growing demand for aged care services, delivering long-term benefits for the Beaudesert community.
“The investment in this facility is about securing the future of aged care in our region. It’s the result of hard work and collaboration, and I want to acknowledge the Wongaburra Society for their ongoing commitment to our seniors,” Mr. Buchholz said.
The new Wongaburra Aged Care Facility will create much-needed local jobs during construction and, once completed, will offer state-of-the-art accommodation and healthcare for the ageing population of Beaudesert and surrounding areas.
Construction is now underway, with the facility expected to be operational in the coming years.
