Beaudesert Hardware Mitre 10 celebrated their 60th birthday with staff and the Franklin family sharing memories and some cake with locals.
Beaudesert Hardware was first registered on June 22, 1964, by three locally born and raised sons of Henry Danby and Agnes Franklin: Roy, Stuart and Donald Franklin.
In 1976, they became the holders of the Mitre 10 licence for the Beaudesert district.
The joyous occasion included the original co-owner Stuart Franklin, accompanied by his wife Margaret, daughter-in-law Thea and her two sons Campbell and John Franklin.
Mitre 10 Manager, Clint Spence, has been working for Beaudesert Hardware for the past 47 years and was delighted to celebrate another milestone with the community.
“It was a matter of acknowledging that we’re 60, we’re here and we’re still going – the fact that it’s been the same family is very rare,” Clint said.
“We’ve certainly improved over the years – you come to work and enjoy what you do, then you go home knowing you did your best. That’s all you can hope for.”
Stuart is the last of the three brothers alive and he was excited to be able to celebrate Beaudesert Hardware’s 60thbirthday.
“I’m proud to have been associated with them for 60 years – we worked weekends to build this place,” Stuart said.
Margaret was happy to reconnect with Beaudesert Hardware as it contains endless memories for her family.
“It’s really nice but it’s also really emotional because not everyone is here,” she said.
“There’s been a lot of memories with this shop – they’ve all worked very well and very hard.”
Donald’s wife Thea appreciates the work that Clint and the Mitre 10 staff do.
“It is an achievement – I think we are very grateful of the staff we have seen over the years,” she said.
