BEAUDESERT has welcomed its first Clydesdale Spectacular with open arms.
The Spectacular, touted as one of Queensland’s most loved events and the richest Clydesdale show in the southern hemisphere, was held at Beaudesert Showgrounds on June 14 and 15.
The event shifted to Beaudesert after event organisers said it had outgrown Boonah Showgrounds.
It was the first location change in the event’s 13-year history.
Beaudesert made the most of the big horse coup, with businesses banding together to put their best foot forward and showcase what Beaudesert has to offer.
All the activity at the showgrounds piqued the interest of locals, who welcomed the event with open arms.
Many had a great time at the Luke Geiger country music concert on Friday night and turned out over the weekend to check out the horses and working dogs, food and drink, bagpipes and drums, blacksmithing and wheelwright demonstrations, whip cracking and exhibitions.
The Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce worked with event organisers Rick and Greta Stanfield and the Scenic Rim Regional Council to maximise the opportunity.
Many businesses extended their trading hours and provided offers for visitors in attendance over the weekend and the Chamber delivered welcome bags to the 200 campers at the Spectacular, showcasing what was on offer locally.
