Kimberley Sammon was one of the most successful riders at Beaudesert’s recent Campdraft.

The highly experienced campdrafter won the Restricted Open Draft on Highway to Hell as well as achieving equal second to fourth pace on Duckdown and sixth on Banshee Coneye, who she won the cutout on.

She also won the cutout in the Maiden Draft on Platinum Coals and won the Markwell Family Open Draft on Banshee Coneye, taking out the cutout in that event as well.

A change in date due to weather saw a slight drop in competitor numbers at this year’s Beaudesert Campdraft.

Beaudesert Show Society President Ian Harrison said moving the campdraft forward a weekend clashed with another draft, but they had no choice.

“We’ve had so much rain that there was no way we could run it the week before,” he said.

As it was, the event had been scheduled to run on over three days, but the grounds were deemed unsafe on the Friday, leaving organisers forced to push the competition into a two day event, ploughing the grounds to dry it out.

For those who did compete, it was a great weekend of horse sport and socialising, with the friendly spirit of campdraft competiton welcomed by everyone there.
