AN EXCHANGE of cultures gave Beaudesert State School Students and 12 high school students from Japan some unique experiences recently.
The Japanese students from the Gunma prefecture, about an hour north of Tokyo, stayed with host families in Beaudesert and attended Beaudesert State School for the week.
While in Australia they were buddied up with two Beaudesert students and attended a range of classes, as well as participating in Indigenious art classes with Mununjali artist Stacie Fogarty.
An immersive native animal show also came to the school, with all students able to see and hold a number of native Australian animals.
Teacher Jacinta Becerra said the cultural experiences have been valuable and fun for all students involved.
“Unfortunately we weren’t able to do this during covid so it is wonderful to be have the Japanese students back with us again,” she said.
“It is a great experience for everyone – they love it.”
