Happy new year! I hope you had a safe and happy festive season and enjoyed the many wonderful things to see and do across our region.

I had a wonderful holiday season. I enjoyed spending lots of time with my grandchildren, and took several motorcycle rides with my husband across the spectacular Scenic Rim.

I am very much looking forward to 2025, and to further growing, developing and advocating for our region.

Speaking of growth, thank you to those of you who submitted expressions of interest in joining the Kooralbyn Master Plan Committee. Council were overwhelmed with applications. I look forward to sharing more information on this committee as things progress.

Thank you to those of you who that have already joined the conversation about the future use of the Beaudesert Pig and Calf Saleyards. Community consultation closes on February 14, 2025, so if you would like to have your say visit letstalk.scenicrim.qld.gov.au

Works on Davidson Park are now complete. This includes the new CWA building, a stage with amphitheatre, yarning circles, new landscaping and amenities. If you haven’t been to have a look, please do – it is fantastic.

Other works are still underway on the Beaudesert Revitalisation Project, in particular drainage works on Brisbane Street. At this stage plans are on track to complete this project by end of March 2025 (weather and other things permitting). Thank you for your patience while these important works are completed. Please continue to support local businesses in the town centre whilst these works are underway.

Congratulations to the nominees for the 2025 Australia Day Awards. Council received 15 nominations for the Awards, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on Australia Day at The Centre Beaudesert. We will also welcome 22 new residents to the region at the Citizenship ceremony on the same day.

Council will be hosting a free afternoon of fun for the community on Australia Day in Jubilee Park from 5pm. The event will include lots of fun activities including jumping castles, inflatable slide, kids activities, face painting and more! A Movie in the Park screening of Imaginary Friends (IF) will commence at 7pm.

We hope to see you there!
