Rain, hail or shine: a very Beaudesert Christmas

BEAUDESERT Christmas enthusiasts have decorating the town down to a fine art, whatever the weather.

The township is resplendent as ever in its festive display thanks to the efforts of volunteers involved with Beaudesert’s Christmas Spirit and Beaudesert Christmas Yarnbombers.

Muggy mornings did nothing to deter them from getting out at the crack of dawn with their yarn and bunting, zip ties and ladders to cover trees, poles and park benches throughout Beaudesert CBD, Jubilee Park and beyond.

Even the thickest, stickiest humidity and loudest, rumbliest roadworks were no match for their sense of community pride and overwhelming desire to drench the town in good cheer.

An almighty downpour saturated volunteers who turned out for the final working bee to finish off the town decorations, and the only thing brighter than their plastic ponchos and high vis vests was their smiles and laughter as they got the job done.

The skies cleared for a magical Light up Beaudesert, where a small but engaged crowd swayed along to carols by the U3A ukulele group and A Choired Taste and counted down to the switching on of the tree lights.

At time of print, conditions were looking perfect for the Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce Carols in the Park and the BADCAP Christmas Makers’ Market was in full swing.

CBD shopkeepers impacted by ongoing roadworks were feeling optimistic about their Support our CBD competition and children were getting stuck into the free Santa Hunt, searching for adorable crocheted Santas in participating stores for their chance to win.

At Light up Beaudesert, Michael Enright from the Beaudesert’s Christmas Spirit group thanked everyone involved for their festive efforts.
