BEAUDESERT will now host the famed Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular, which has outgrown Boonah Showgrounds.

The Spectacular, touted as one of Queensland’s most loved events and the richest Clydesdale show in the southern hemisphere, will be at Beaudesert Showgrounds on June 14 and 15.

It is the first location change in the event’s 13-year history.

Event Director Greta Stanfield said Beaudesert Showgrounds was the ideal location.

“Beaudesert is a wonderful stage two era for the event and is still midway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, plus, there’s increased accommodation and camping spaces, which is great news for both our competitors and our visitors. The facilities at the Beaudesert Showgrounds mean we can grow the event even more, it’s an exciting time,” she said.

“We are very excited to partner with the Beaudesert Show Society and the Scenic Rim Regional Council and Tourism and Events Queensland to bring you the best Clydesdale Spectacular event yet!”

Beaudesert Show Society President Ian Harrison said the grounds were well-equipped to host the Spectacular and the committee was excited to be working with organisers.

He said it was a big deal for Beaudesert.

“If you hark back to when Beaudesert used to host the Country and Horse Festival quite a few years ago, it attracted many visitors to the area,” he said.

“Not only will people come to the showgrounds, but they’ll also want food, accommodation, and it will promote Beaudesert as a place to visit.

“We’re only an hour from the Gold Coast, so people can visit Beaudesert for a bit of country influence, not have to look at the beach all the time.”

The Clydesdale Spectacular, which will go from 8am until late on June 14-15, will include a full schedule of Clydesdale competitions, the showcasing of rare trades like harness making and blacksmithing, the launch of the World Whip Plaiting Titles and plenty of tributes to all things Scottish.

According to Tourism and Events Queensland, the Spectacular in 2024 generated 11,284 visitor nights, with total overnight expenditure valued at $2,017,506.
