At 3pm on Friday 19 July, the world was hit by an unprecedented IT outage, and Beaudesert was no exception.

While for some it was a minor inconvenience, for others it caused major disruption to business.

Woolworths Beaudesert had problems with fresh produce coming into the store.

Mitre 10 Beaudesert had to close on Saturday and reopened on Sunday, taking cash only payments.

On the Beaudesert Bulletin’s Facebook page, Sarah Playford was very matter of fact, “Society wants everything now and fast. This is just a consequence of that. The fact it happens so rarely is a testament to the tech companies really. The volume of work they pump out versus things going wrong is a pretty acceptable ratio. Those that depend on it for keeping people alive or for essential services must have downtime processes. Simple.”

It is hoped that services will be restored over the weekend.
