The Beaudesert Open Men’s Prize Money Tennis Tournament attracted some of the highest quality players the Beaudesert & District Tennis Association has seen, with former Brazilian Junior number one player, Luiz De Lima E Silva, winning the Men’s singles.
Silva played Max Flaherty in a well-matched final, winning in three sets 6-2, 6-7, 10-8.
Silva was ranked in the top 10 in Brazil for three years, having won numerous tournaments and holding an international junior ranking.

Successful weekend for tennis club
One of the biggest tennis weekends in Beaudesert attracted players from across South East Queensland.
The Beaudesert Open’s Men’s Singles alone attracted a record 30 entries.
With only 15 players able to be selected for the draw, former Beaudesert coach Nick Thorpe and coach Tim Fitzgerald were pleased to make the cut on their home court.
Nick also competed in the Men’s Doubles.
Beaudesert and District Tennis Association Secretary, Lauren Griffin, said the Club was excited about the high level of players this year.
“We have an incredibly high level of tennis players who entered into this prize money tournament, and we are extremely excited to be hosting the event,” said Lauren.
“This is the second time we have offered this event, the first was back in 2019, and then Covid affected 2020/21.”
“We look forward to being able to increase the acceptance numbers for next year with our two brand new courts that are due to be completed in the coming months.”
Two full days of tennis included doubles and singles matches with prizemoney of up to $600 on offer.
Lauren said the prizemoney and friendly reputation of the Club had attracted larger than normal entries.
“We would like to thank our tournament sponsors IPFlourish and BOQ Jimboomba as well as all the players and their families.”
“We are looking forward for an even bigger weekend next year.”
