Beaudesert Country Women’s Association (CWA) presents Needles & Hooks, a knitting and crocheting competition for crafters to enter their creations and win cash prizes. 

Held on July 18, Needles & Hooks is open to members and non-members to give the community a chance to unleash their creativity and do so with a bit of competition. 

Entry nominations is 50 cents each and all entries must be completed within the past 18 months to be eligible for judging. 

Pieces that have been previously entered in a competition cannot be re-entered.

Each class will apply towards a knitting category and a crocheting category. The classes set for the competition will be listed below:

  • Class 1: Modern baby outfit up to 1 years using ½ the garment in a diamond pattern
  • Class 2: Novice Class – Fingerless gloves
  • Class 3: Twin Set for a child up to 10 years in cotton
  • Class 4: Three stem flowers of any sort
  • Class 5: Knitting Earrings (any sort)
  • Class 6: Toy (any medium – to 40cm size)
  • Class 7: Knit a jumper for a boy up to 10 years 
  • Class 8: Over 10 years skirt with two colours
  • Class 9: Any entry not mentioned in any other class
  • Class 10: Adult twin set with cable front
  • Class 11: A dishcloth in a pumpkin pattern 
  • Class 12: Broomstick waistcoat for a child 
  • Class 13: A scarf in the colours of red and green strip in the middle
  • Class 14: Knee rug (circular diameter to 125cm)
  • Class 15: Entry in mercerised cotton thread (no 45 or under)
  • Class 16: Entry in mercerised cotton thread (no 50 or over)
  • Class 17: Any item up to 10 years in knitting or crochet
  • Class 18: Any item over 10 years in knitting or crochet

Every entry requires a name tag that includes your name, branch, and division written on the inside, and the letter ‘K’ (knitting) or ‘C’ (crochet) and class number written on the outside with pen. 

Cash prizes consist of first place winning $20 and second place winning $10. 

Major awards will also be presented to the Champion of Competition, Champion piece of Knitting and Champion piece of Crochet. 

All entries and payments can be made at QCWA Hall Beaudesert on July 11 and July 15.
