McAuley College is undergoing a major $11 million upgrade, with three new facilities set to be completed by the end of 2026.

Construction is under way on the developments, which include a Hospitality Precinct, an Industrial Design Hub, and a new Resources Centre (library), aimed at enhancing learning opportunities for students.

Principal Jason Pacey said the purpose-built facilities would support contemporary teaching while helping students develop practical skills for future career pathways.

“The new facilities will provide students with access to modern, industry-standard environments that support hands-on learning and real-world preparation,” he said.

The Hospitality Precinct will feature an open-plan kitchen workspace, a dining area, and an alfresco space, allowing students to develop food preparation and service skills in a professional-style setting.

Mr Pacey said the facility would also support the introduction of a paddock-to-plate aquaculture program in the coming years, designed to give students an understanding of aquatic systems, sustainability, and potential career pathways in marine and environmental industries.

The Industrial Design Hub will replace the school’s current timber and design areas and include a purpose-built welding and engineering space, along with storage for large-scale projects.

According to Mr Pacey, the hub will enable students to explore design thinking and practical skills using tools and technologies aligned with industry standards.

It is also expected to support the introduction of a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways.

The third major development, a new Resources Centre, will act as a central learning hub for students.

The facility will include a technology hub, flexible teaching spaces, bookable study pods, and a senior learning area.

“The open-plan design reflects a university-style environment that encourages collaboration, independence, and flexible learning,” Mr Pacey said.

“The space also provides students a quiet space where they can pursue their school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, TAFE, or their FisherOne online subjects outside of class times.”

In addition to the three main facilities, the project includes a new learning support space, administration area upgrades, converted classrooms, and expanded canteen facilities.

The development has been designed by Fulton Trotter Architects and is being constructed by Bryants Builders.

The upgrade comes as the college approaches its 10-year anniversary in 2027, with the new facilities expected to support continued growth and expanded senior pathway options.

The college will also host a Principal’s Tour on April 27 as part of Open Week 2026, inviting prospective families to view the campus and learn more about the planned developments.
