The Kerry Memorial Hall will come to life at a country dance with a twist on August 29.
The event goes from 7pm to 11pm with tickets $15 at the door (children under 12 are free).
Families are welcome, a light supper is included and there will be a licensed bar.
Organisers hope it might signal a return to regular hall dancers at Kerry, which has not had regular dances in several years.
Local favourite Susanna Colley will do the music, which will be a mix of modern country and 80s classics to accompany old-time, country and line dancing.
The run sheet includes dances like the Nutbush, Rockabilly, Gypsy Tap, Log Cabin, Evening Three Step, Progressive Barn, Macarena, YMCA, Pride of Erin and Monte Carlo.
While seasoned dances will no doubt enjoy a chance to show off their moves, organisers want to make it clear you do not need to be good at dancing or know any of the dances to attend.
Local farmer Harry Tommerup will show attendees the dance steps on the night, for those who want to learn.
“The whole idea is to have fun – we want people to go home and go, ‘gee that was fun’,” said Laurie Ward from the committee.
“We want families to come and just really enjoy themselves.”
The hall, built by the community 1946, has hosted countless dances, weddings and wakes, luncheons and meetings, concerts and birthday parties in its 80-year history and has undergone significant renovations in recent years through the efforts of local volunteers.
