Imagine a world where humans will not use an object once someone has used it for evil and outside its intended purpose.
For example a car someone used to hurt others, so out of principle, all humans have discarded cars.
Now they’ve done the same with rope, electricity and water, because people used those things to do evil. Now you can see how ridiculous this world would become in a short time. There wouldn’t be anything left that humans could use.
And yet we often do this with God. The moment someone claims to know God and does something evil or hurts us in some way, we say, ‘That’s it, I’m having nothing to do with God’. But how is that God’s fault?
That person misused their supposed relationship with God.
It’s hypocritical too, because we don’t use that same standard with other things in our lives like cars, water and electricity. That’s not consistent.
Of course there are harmful religious ideologies and cults that abuse people and promote terror. Those systems must be exposed, dismantled and avoided. But to avoid God in His entirety, because some have misused His name? That’s logically inconsistent.
But imagine now that you’ve seen how this type of logic is ridiculous, and you say, ‘Okay, I won’t avoid God, but I will have nothing to do with His people!’ Is that a healthy relationship?
God in His very essence is a community, a Trinity. To avoid His people is to avoid Him.
If God wants to give you a hug or a gift, or a word of wisdom, often He will do it through one of His people. By choosing not to meet with His people, you are missing out on what it means to be in relationship with God.
An unhealthy relationship like that can never grow in a good way. So, what are you waiting for? Your heavenly Father is waiting for you, and so are His people.
