A TEAM of 12 women from Beaudesert’s Freedom Health and Fitness Centre are getting down to help raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

They have enrolled in the Foundation’s 57 squat challenge which is running throughout this month.

The team called Freedom Squatters has committed to individually completing at least 57 squats each day.

Gym owner Janie Coutts said at first it was only going to be a few doing the challenge, but she was delighted the idea caught on.

“We have already doubled our fund-raising target and we still have most of March to go,” she said.

“Importantly it’s not just about raising funds for cancer research it’s also about creating more awareness about breast cancer.”

The significance of daily doing 57 squats is that 57 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Australia.
