Farm Expo returns

The countdown is on to potentially the biggest farm day exhibition ever held in the local area.

The Scenic Rim Farming Expo will be back for its third year on June 13-14 with the promise that it will be the biggest yet.

Previously known as the Scenic Rim Agricultural Expo, the event this year is being organised in partnership between the Harrisville Lions Club and Rotary Club of Fassifern Valley, and backed by a host of local businesses including major sponsors Allclass Kubota.

The Expo, dedicated to supporting and strengthening the Scenic Rim’s farming community, will showcase trade and hobby farm stalls featuring the latest in agri-technology, sustainable farming practices and rural living products.

Scenic Rim Farming Expo president, Brian Lawson, said there will be something for everyone from backyard gardeners to big acre farmers.

“This event is more than just an expo, it’s a platform for regional economic development, a bridge between industry and education and a celebration of everything that makes farming in the Scenic Rim so special,” he said.

“Friday will focus on innovation, networking and skills development, while Saturday will be more in the style of a Lifestyle and Hobby Farm exhibition.

“You’ll be able to watch live machinery and drone demonstrations, get bee-keeping and butchering advice and look over vintage tractor and livestock displays.”

Food trucks and live entertainment will also feature on both days.

In a major new initiative all five local high schools will be attending the Farming Field Day on the Friday with senior students participating in mentorship sessions with industry experts.

“This program is designed to inspire young people and connect them directly with opportunities in the farming sector and hopefully paving the future for a thriving farming industry in the Scenic Rim,” Mr Lawson said.
