Beaudesert’s Anna Ferguson is focused on progressing the show movement in Queensland after winning the 2022 Queensland Country Life Showgirls’ Choice.

The 2021 Beaudesert Showgirl and 2022 South East Sub Chamber representative earned the peer-voted sash for embodying all the showgirl awards entail.

Anna’s win was announced at the Ekka, where she helped celebrate 40 years of the awards and represented the movement at exhibits and networking events.

Anna, 26, grew up on 85 acres south of Beaudesert, where her family ran beef cattle, and she entered work in the Beaudesert Show horticulture, education, cookery and photography sections.

She now works as a secondary physical education teacher in Brisbane and gets back to visit family in Beaudesert at every opportunity.

Anna was excited about getting stuck into her Showgirls’ Choice duties for the benefit of the show movement in Beaudesert and further afield.

“It’s not about what you look like. A title is just words, and a sash is just an accessory – it’s the person behind it that counts,” she said.

“I’m going to grab the opportunity to broaden my horizons through seeing how everyone runs metro, regional and rural shows and what people are doing to engage young people in the show movement.”
