Springtime on the Mountain 2026 Open Gardens Trail is inspiring, enjoyable, restorative and often surprising.
Annie and Shaun Hardy’s garden is one of those extraordinary surprises.
They have named their property Adamah, which has two meanings – red earth and an acknowledgement of mankind’s connection with the land.
As an opportunity to give back to the land, Annie and Shaun embraced the Scenic Rim Council’s Million Trees Initiative to restore local biodiversity and encourage sustainable land practices.
In four short years they have created a thriving rainforest by planting over 1800 rainforest tube stock amongst the 97 existing gums on 2.5 acres of this former avocado property.
With the removal of the dense thickets of privet rainforest seedlings have now courageously sprouted.
The bird song here can be intense.
Other native wildlife are finding their way to this hidden sanctuary.
Annie and Shaun have added their own whimsical surprises, for young and old to discover.
At the far edge of the rainforest a majestic 150-year-old strangler fig stands guard over the sunny orchard. Its prolific citrus fruits claimed first prize at the recent Winterfest Show.
Bordering the orchard are insect attracting native shrubs.
Annie and Shaun have harvested 60kgs of honey in one year.
Around the corner, past the banana patch is the chicken run.
These healthy hens usually spend their days foraging in the rainforest.
Instead, they will be eyeing the lush sorrel growing in nearby vegetable plots.
Adamah is one of the six diverse gardens opening in this year’s Springtime on the Mountain. Each garden reflects their owners’ passions. They have worked hard, preparing for this event.
Plant stalls, book sales, choirs and a sculpture exhibition will be at the various gardens.
It’s the middle weekend of the September school holidays, from Friday September 25 to Sunday September 27.
Dependent children are free so it’s the perfect holiday outing.
