Wraps with Love was created in 1992 by Sonia Godley-King in Sydney, out of leftover wool and some enthusiastic friends.
They got together some 38 hand knitted wraps to send to war-torn Mozambique.
More than 30 years later, the movement is still strong with volunteers sending thousands of warm wraps to disasters, refugee camps, homeless people, everywhere there is a need.
The work is done by mainly women who knit, crochet or quilt squares to be sewn together and shipped out. Beechmont’s organiser, Alison Johnson said that the latest load of quilts from Beechmont are ready to be despatched.
The Beechmont Quilters have kept up a steady flow of wraps for over ten years and enjoy their weekly get togethers over a cuppa at Graceleigh Hall.
