This Queensland Day, Queenslanders can win tickets and vouchers to tourism experiences by sharing what they love about the state and including #MaroonIt with their photo or video on Facebook and Instagram.
Twelve community events, funded through the Queensland Government’s Queensland Day Sponsorship Program, will be held across Queensland between 1 – 9 June 2024 including Longreach, Cairns, Gatton and Proserpine.
Queensland Day on 6 June marks the state’s official separation from New South Wales as an independent colony in 1859.
Every year, Queenslanders celebrate the state’s culture, people, heritage, places, and industries with festivals, markets, art initiatives, parades, family fun days or an event unique to their community.
Ali Brigginshaw, Captain of Brisbane Broncos and Queensland Day ambassador is pleased to help celebrate what it means to be a Queenslander.
“I am proud to call Queensland home and I’m looking forward to celebrating Queensland Day with family and friends, sharing what we love about our great state,” she said.
The traditional lighting of key icons, landmarks, and buildings will take place across the state on Queensland Day, so that Queensland will be lit maroon from the Gold Coast, all the way up to Townsville.
