Scenic Rim Discount Drug Store’s Amanda Young has been recognised for her outstanding customer service with a National Award.

Amanda received the National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award at the Discount Drug Store National Conference on 31 May.

Scenic Rim Discount Drug Store is locally owned by sisters Casey and Gabby Clark and Donna Simpson.

Casey said Amanda always strives to give the best customer service and goes over and above expectations.

“Amanda stands out because she truly can do anything and everything!” said Casey.

“No matter what we need done in store we can always rely on Amanda to get it done, whether we need someone to help with stock control, or guide the team and support the new staff, Amanda always steps up and takes the challenge on, no questions asked.

“She has truly been a pillar of support to the team and the owners particularly in the last couple of years with the chaos of COVID.”

Amanda was born in Beaudesert and remembers going to the pharmacy with her parents as a child.

She started working at the pharmacy at 19 years of age and has taken on different roles over the years.  Almost 20 years later she is delighted to be recognised for her service to the business.

“I was just so surprised to even be nominated for the award,” she said.

“I couldn’t believe it.”

“It really is a fantastic place – we’re all friends in there, we all look out for each other.”

“I’ve had five amazing bosses throughout my time there – Gabby, Casey and Donna now – you can’t ask for better bosses.”

One of the aspects of working at Scenic Rim Discount Drug Store that Amanda loves is getting to know the customers who come in.

She enjoys having families come in and seeing children growing up and eventually coming back to the pharmacy as young adults.

Gabby, Casey, Donna and Amanda thanked their customers for their ongoing support of the pharmacy.
