DRIVING up to 500km to buy a car might seem like a stretch but it paid off for Kate Conway.

Mrs Conway won $10,000 in a competition she did not even realise she had entered after she bought her new Nissan Patrol in Beaudesert Auto Group’s Big Summer Sale.

The young mum grew up in Beaudesert before moving west to Wandoan with her husband and they have an 18-month-old son, Freddie, with a second baby due at the end of June.

Mrs Conway feels a deep connection to Beaudesert, where her parents Marg and Tim Kelly have lived for about 40 years.

She drove six hours to Beaudesert to accept the prize, and said she felt loyal to the local dealership.

“I bought my first car here in 2017 after I worked at a chicken farm on Lambert Road to save up for it. That was the car I traded in for my 2024 Nissan Patrol,” she said.

“These guys had the best deal going at the time and it was great to be able to come back here and support the dealership we knew. I didn’t even know there was a competition on.”

Mrs Conway, who works as a kindy teacher, said the prize money came at a good time as she and her diesel mechanic husband prepared to have two children under the age of two.

“Normally you don’t know anyone who wins those prizes, so you don’t think much of it and then I was driving, and I got the call, and I thought it was just a survey to see how the car was going,” she said.

“I think I stopped breathing for a moment, it was just so surreal. And I mean it’s come at a very good time for us with another baby due at the end of June.”

Mrs Conway made the most of the big trip to celebrate her prize, using it as an opportunity to catch up with family and travel to Brisbane for a scan with her obstetrician.

Beaudesert Auto Group thanked everyone who participated in the Big Summer Sale and congratulated Mrs Conway on her prize.
