A local trio has taken out the prestigious Carwise Challenge against a strong field of quality golfers.
The 3 ball ambrose was held over the weekend of 29 and 30 January at Beaudesert Golf Club and attracted players from across South East Queensland.
Beaudesert team mates Leigh Stokes, Ray Southwell and Luke Barber played some impressive golf over the two days, finishing the tournament with a score of nett 118.
Beaudesert Golf Club Manager and Golf Professional, Gregory Coulter said the course played very well over the weekend.
The course had received over 100mm rain in January 2022 and almost 300mm in December 2021, but greens staff rose to the challenge.
“A big thank you to Nigel Dean (Beaudesert Golf Club Greens Superintendent) and his team and the course staff for producing some great playing surfaces considering our wet summer,” he said.
The two days of play had near perfect weather, with players and guests enjoying the Club facilities and entertainment after play finished.
“The Carwise weekend was a great success at Beaudesert Golf Club with over 150 players on both days,” said Coulter.
Local musician Brad Currie kept members and visitors entertained on the Saturday night until close.
“There were a few sore heads teeing it up on Sunday.”
Well known Beaudesert golfer, Steve Hughes’ business Carwise sponsored of the competition and Coulter is looking forward to the event continuing as a major part of the Club’s annual calendar.
“A big thank you to Steve Hughes for his support of the Carwise Challenge and the Club looks forward to improving the event as an ongoing yearly program highlight.”
Stokes, Southwell and Barber are no strangers to the winners’ circle in this event, having finished in first place in 2019.
