It has been an incredible honour to represent Canungra as its first-ever Rural Ambassador in 2024.
This role is so much more than just a title; it’s an opportunity to be a voice for our community, celebrate the beauty of rural life, and promote the broader agricultural industries.
From the moment I accepted this role, I knew it wasn’t just about wearing a sash.
It was a chance to be part of a new local tradition, to inspire the next generation, and to showcase all that makes Canungra and rural life so special.
Representing our town and agricultural communities has allowed me to connect with so many inspiring people, be an advocate for agriculture, and highlight the importance of preserving our rural culture.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been connecting with the next generation of leaders.
Whether in farming, agribusiness, or sustainability, I’ve seen firsthand the limitless opportunities within agriculture.
There’s immense potential in our rural communities, and it is crucial to encourage the younger generations seek careers within our agricultural industries.
Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of assisting at multiple local events, including the Canungra Show, the Canungra Rodeo, and the NRA Finals.
These experiences have deepened my love for our traditions.
I also had the honour of attending the Ekka, Beaudesert Show, Warwick Rodeo, and Kalbar Country Day.
These events have given me a greater appreciation for the hardworking communities that make up rural Australia, and I’ve loved connecting with local businesses like Simone Jelly’s Pretty Produce Flower Farm and Summer Land Camels at Harrisville.
As I continue my journey as Canungra’s 2024 Rural Ambassador, I am more determined than ever to help promote the local district and all it has to offer.
I will continue working closely with local businesses, attending regional shows, and engaging in community events to raise awareness about the vital contributions of our farmers and the importance of preserving our agricultural heritage.
I encourage both men and women to consider applying for the Rural Ambassador role for 2025.
If you’re passionate about our community, rural life and agriculture, this role offers a unique opportunity.
This role is incredibly rewarding, it provides opportunities for personal growth, offers invaluable experiences, and allows you to inspire the next generation of leaders.
This experience has been one of growth and learning for me, and I know it will be the same for you. Imagine the pride and positive awareness you can bring to our community, and the support you’ll receive in return.
I’m deeply grateful to the volunteering individuals on the Canungra Show Society whose dedication has made this program possible.
With great pride, I look forward to seeing the next finalist take on this journey. Together, let’s continue to honour Canungra’s rich agricultural heritage, celebrate our community spirit and inspire tomorrow’s leaders with the same passion and dedication that defines us.
I eagerly await to guide our next Rural Ambassadors in 2025!
