The Beaudesert Golf Club is preparing for the future after hiring PGA Golf Pro, Greg Coulter as their new General Manager.
Greg was already in the building before his appointment as General Manager, when he won the Pro Am in Beaudesert in 1991.
“I had a patron tell me I was on the winners’ board inside the club and I had completely forgot that I had played here,” he said.
“It is pretty amazing to come full circle and be in charge of such a special Club”.
Greg played the PGA Tour from 1983 to 1992, with a relatively successful career as a PGA golfer.
In 1992, Greg decided he wanted to be a Club Pro and took over from Denis Brosnan, owner of Brosnan Golf and Golf World, at the Redcliffe Golf Club.
“Back in the day, a lot of Golf Pros come out of tours and want to become Club Pros, with no experience,” he said
“I was extremely lucky to learn from someone as successful as Denis who showed me how to understand retail and selling.”
After his stint at Redcliffe, Greg then moved onto Moree Golf Club to help a friend out with the operations there.
“It was meant to be a short-term role, but I ended up staying there for seven years and saw exponential growth within the club,” he said.
After spending time at Brisbane Golf Club, one of Queensland’s greatest clubs, Greg ended up having a short stay at Portland Golf Club in Victoria, when he decided he needed to spend more time with his family.
“We moved up to the Gold Coast and I had a role in real estate management which allowed me to spend more time with my kids as they grew up,” he said.
Now that the kids have moved out, Greg shifted his attention back to golf and applied for the role in Beaudesert.
“I’ve taken the role as General Manager with both hands and there is such a bright future for the Beaudesert Golf Club,” he said.
“Alongside the Pro Shop opening, we will have junior programs, ladies’ beginner programs and private lessons all beginning in March.”
