The flavours of Tamborine Mountain will be front and centre when Eat Local Month kicks off with immersive food and drink experiences celebrating the region’s producers, stories, and seasonal ingredients.
Festivities begin early – on Friday May 30 – with Brewmaster for a Day at Boxer Brewing Co, where just ten guests will join Head Brewer Abby Heslop for a hands-on brewing session.
With a Master’s in Brewing and dual winemaking qualifications, Heslop will share her domestic and international expertise while the brew boils.
The experience includes tank tastings, a gourmet toastie lunch, and a chance to learn the science behind hops and fermentation.
On Saturday May 31, the Village Harvest event at the Vonda Youngman Community Centre will bring locals and experts together for a day of sustainable living, seasonal food workshops, and community connection.
Later that afternoon, visitors can explore the world of bitter botanicals with a Modern Amaro Tasting at Loborn Distillery.
Owner Tom Drewett, who moved to Tamborine Mountain four years ago, said the distillery was all about community.
“I just wanted to do something local,” he said.
“I go and grab my oranges straight from the farm. My closest ingredient is probably honey just 100 metres up the road.
“By extending the network throughout Eat Local Month, I’m bringing things closer and closer to the distillery.”
Also on Saturday May 31, Spirit of the Mountain at Cauldron Distillery will offer a sunset of stories, songs and spirits.
Guests will be welcomed by Wangeriburra elders before enjoying a local hamper, live music from Ben Lee, and mountain-made drinks.
Sunday June 1 features a full day of food and flavour, beginning with the Eat Local Produce and Makers Market at North Stores.
Visitors can shop, taste, and connect with local artisans before heading off to a range of events including Tacos and Tipples at Witches Falls Winery, a rainforest high tea at Pethers Rainforest Retreat, or a zesty Winter Citrus Spritz Afternoon at Tamborine Mountain Distillery.
