THE latest community fundraiser ‘Pink Twilight Trivia’ is a great opportunity to test your general knowledge while supporting cancer patients and their families.
The trivia night will be held at 5pm on February 22 at the Beaudesert Tennis Club with various prizes up for grabs through raffles, a 100s board and the best pink outfit.
Host Rhonda Thorpe has organised various cancer awareness fundraisers such as High Tea for a Cause and International Women’s Day Fun Run.
This year, Rhonda and her team decided to switch things up and hold a pink twilight trivia night for the community.
“We wanted it to be a bit more inclusive for people and something a bit more fun,” Rhonda said.
“People love trivia.”
At $30 per head, guests will enjoy a three-course meal whilst the battle of the wits unfolds after 5pm.
Rhonda’s main focus for the night is to be able to shed light on cancer awareness and offer the community the opportunity to enjoy themselves.
“By having a bit of fun, it puts a bit of awareness back,” she said.
“I’ve had people reach out to me from doing these fundraisers to actually just talk. If we can help people in any which way, that’s all we strive for.”
As a cancer survivor herself, Rhonda found comfort in fundraising events as it was a way to connect with others in her position.
“I found that getting involved and seeing others going through the same thing that I was going through; it’s not just me,” she said.
“By holding things like this, it’s amazing how people come together and support other people. It’s a connection where you can relate and not go through things alone,” she said.
Rhonda appreciates the unwavering support that her fundraisers have received from the community, and she hopes to make a difference in people’s lives.
“We just want to thank the community – we could not do what we do without community support,” Rhonda said.
“If we can give something back to them and make them aware of certain things, that’s the best thing we can achieve.”
Tickets for the multi-draw raffle cost $2 each or three for $5 and are available through Rhonda.
